YouTube has recently rolled out a few changes in their site which includes the channel layout. If you haven’t been on YouTube lately, maybe you’ll be surprised about the recent change. Chances are, your channel might look like defaced or empty. But don’t you panic, this article can help you.
Here are the top 3 tips on how to optimize your YouTube Channel:
1. Create your customer profile picture and channel background
If you just got into your channel, you might observe that it has a really different layout. You have to take note of the size of your profile picture. There are two modes where your profile picture is displayed – the smaller one which is displayed on your channel with 55 pixels x 55 pixels and the larger one which is displayed on your channel thumbnail which is 176 pixels x 176 pixels. To optimize your display picture, make sure to make it 256 pixels x 256 pixels before you upload it. As for your channel background, make sure to utilize each empty sides of your channel – this is pretty much same concept as Twitter background. You may have to test out various sizes of your channel background as it may appear differently when viewed on different monitor sizes.
2. Optimize your Channel Information
On your channel, you can find that Edit Channel button on the top right part. If you click it, you’ll be able to edit your info and add some essential elements. Remember to create a good description about your channel and don’t forget to put your website’s link. YouTube also has already allowed people to integrate their channels to other social media sites. Make sure you link your YouTube channel to your Google+, Facebook and Twitter if you do have those profiles.
3. Configure your Featured Videos
Part of the changes on your YouTube channel is the featured videos list. Users are now able to create a list of featured videos in their channel. Basically, when someone visits your channel, your designated video will automatically play and below it are a list of featured videos and playlists. Make sure you organize your videos so that it will be easy for your subscribers to find some of your interesting videos.
